Dear friends,

we invite documentary film submissions to be screened during the 7th “Days of Ethnographic Cinema” Festival in Moscow from September 25 to September 29, 2018.

The organizers invite filmmakers and students working in the fields of ethnography and anthropology and in other related disciplines to participate in the meeting.

We are looking forward the films on following topics:

  • Anthropology of Аrt
  • Anthropology of the Body and Embodiment
  • Anthropology and Aging
  • Processes of Migration
  • Anthropology of Religion

The length and year of production of the films are not important.

Filmmakers are kindly asked to submit:

  • - DVD-copy of the film with the English subtitles;
  • - transcript of the soundtrack in Russian and/or English (Word format);
  • - Registration form filled out in Russian and/or English.

No fee is required. The organizers apologize for not being able to return the submitted materials.

Submission deadline for registration forms and films is June 1, 2018

Department of Research Arts is happy to invite you to take part in the roundtable discussion “Soundscape in the Anthropology of Science and Art” which will be dedicated to different ways sound is used in contemporary anthropological and artistic practices. Before the discussion we will screen Solaris, a film by Pavel Borecký.

The event is jointly organised by Department of Research Arts and National Research University Higher School of Economics and is a part of the program of  VI International Festival of Audiovisual Anthropology “Days of Ethnographic Cinema”

For the sixth time the International Cinema Festival of Audiovisual Anthropology “Days of Ethnographic Cinema” will open its doors in Moscow. The festival is being held by National Research University Higher School of Economics, Russian State University for the Humanities,  All-Russian State University of Cinematography named after S.A.Gerasimov in partnership with Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera) as well as the Museum of Moscow.

Urban Anthropology will be the main theme of the Festival as it is topical for the globalizing world.

The festival will be featuring screenings of anthropological films as well as theoretical discussions.

- September 29th National Research University Higher School of Economics in partnership with the Department of Research Arts (Gallery “Triumph”) will organize a round table discussion “Sound landscapes in anthropology of science and art”
- October  2nd colloquium “City and migrants” will take place, featuring leading specialists of  National Research University Higher School of Economics, Lomonosov Moscow State University, and the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences
- September  27th- October 1st the Auditorium of the museum of Moscow will hold screenings of ethnographic films, created by professional anthropologists and research directors
